When you’re starting your business, you have a lot of people trying to get your attention.  You have more things on your to-do list than it seems like you can accomplish in a lifetime.  And that’s just for your marketing!

I get it.

I’ve been there.

Every day, business owners and entrepreneurs field phone calls and emails from newspapers, radio stations, TV stations and community groups trying to sell you advertising…even though they don’t have the slightest clue what you do.  “But we can help you reach your market!”  Honestly…it’s laughable.

And then there’s the online world, where everyone has a different opinion of what works best.

  • “You have to blog!”
  • “You have to build your Twitter following!”
  • “You have to advertise on Facebook!”
  • “You have to be on Instagram!”
  • “You have to be on Pinterest!”
  • “You have to do video marketing!”
  • “You have to do Facebook LIVE videos!”
  • “You have to send daily emails to your list!”

It’s overwhelming!

The biggest mistake most entrepreneurs make with their marketing is trying to do a little of everything…and they end up doing none of it well.  And they burn out before they gain any momentum, after wasting time, money, and resources.

So what do you do?

FOCUS!

Put together a strategic plan for your marketing.  One that is specifically designed to reach your target market.  Choose ONE…or at most TWO…different social media platforms and focus on those.  Then, as you gain momentum and grow your business, you can hire or outsource someone to oversee these tasks and even begin expanding your reach…IF it’s worthwhile to do so.
